I was watching an episode of Top Gear last night, the British version of course. The guys were driving through New York City when Richard said he was a country boy – that he didn’t like cities, which were “big and complicated and people shout at you.” I, ironically, agree with him while I sit perched here in my very urban apartment. But I think it’s obvious why he likes the country so much, because “the country” to him means the English Countryside.

Where cozy kitchens have pots of tea and always-warm Aga stoves

Where there are plenty of books and nooks to tuck in for a good read

Where fireplaces glow, small paintings are hung and bathtubs have feet

Where there are an array of boots to choose from for walks just outside your front door

And when you do go outside your front door, you see this

This brings me back to my own trip to the English countryside just about a year ago now. Maybe Richard maybe had meant a little more HIghgrove, a little less cottage, but this is definitely the type of country I could happily escape the city to.

I want want want. You need to get a place like any of these. I’ll help and I’ll live on the property. Hey can we get on Skype and talk Christmas. Evan just texted me that he and shelbs are coming for brunch on 12/27?? Luv mum.
