Oh hello there! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve had a busy few months and like a lot of people, I’ve been using Instagram to share news, stories and work. But I’d like to get back here more often and what better way to do that than share an artist I recently found and am currently obsessing over?
Swiss artist Conrad Jon Godly moves mountains in oil paint. Literally. Godly works with oil paint they way, in my opinion, it begs to be worked with. It’s thickly layered and manipulated on canvas, which is how those beautiful striations of color emerge. I love his compositions, fragments of waterfalls and close-ups of mountain peaks. His sweeping strokes of snow make the process look easy, though I can tell you trying to get the right values for something like this is anything but.

I think Godly breathes new life into a very popular subject, proving that there is no end to the inspiration you can get from nature. These mountain peaks have me thinking about where to ski this year – Switzerland is looking better and better!
