Over the past few months I’ve become enamored with David Michael Kennedy’s photographs.

He works exclusively in platinum palladium printing – nothing digital.  As I learn more about the process and the stories behind each one of his photos, the work is more and more inspiring.  They are not just beautiful to look at.  David is preserving a certain kind of history here in the West.  After a lucrative career as a music industry photographer in New York, he fled to city to search for a forgotten America.  His portraits of the people he met, the land he fell in love with and the rarely documented images of traditional Native American culture, a cause he feels especially strongly about, reveal a side of America not many of it’s modern inhabitants would recognize.  They are positively beautiful and incredibly haunting.
